The event was the largest event of its kind and involved hundreds of companies, thousands of commuters, and dozens of local and national sponsors who provided over $300,000 in valuable rewards including a grand prize of free groceries for a year!

 
 

 
 
 

The “USAA 3,000,000 Mile Commuter Challenge” took place throughout the greater San Antonio region from January 2009 - January 2010. This year-long event was sponsored by USAA, H-E-B and other local and national companies who provided valuable rewards to commuters to thank them for clearing the roads and cleaning the air. Commuters also won pairs of round trip airline tickets courtesy of USAA.

 
 

 
 
 

“Kick Off Your Commute” was an exciting 10-week event that took place in the fall of 2009 throughout Connecticut and the New York metro. During the event NuRide members won $100 gift cards from Dick's Sporting Goods when they kicked their commute into gear by carpooling, vanpooling, taking public transportation, walking, biking or telecommuting.

 
 

 
 
 

Peapod by Stop & Shop sponsored the Long Island “Great Grocery Getaway” in the summer of 2009. During the event, Long Island commuters were able to save money on their groceries while ten lucky winners also received $100 in free groceries delivered right to their door by Peapod.

 
 

 
 
 

The Earth Day Commuter Challenge: Race to the Finish took place from January through April 30, 2009 in Connecticut and New York's Lower Hudson Valley. Thousands of commuters from hundreds of regional companies participated in the challenge and employers "raced" against each other in various contests. In addition to regular NuRide rewards, over two dozen lucky commuters also won $100 in groceries provided by Peapod, the nation's leading internet grocer.

 
 

 
 
 

Chipotle Mexican Grill sponsored “Burrito Bucks Month” in Houston in January 2009. During the event commuters in the greater Houston-Galveston region earned free Burrito Bucks when they took 30 "green" commuter trips and had a burritoful ride!

 
 

 
 
 

Houston's premiere shopping destination, Memorial City Mall, sponsored the holiday rideshare sweepstakes where Houston-area commuters won $100 gift certificates to Memorial City Mall when they shared rides between November 21, 2008 and December 30, 2008. This rewarding event brightened the holiday season for thousands of Houston-area commuters!

 
 

 
 
 

The Tri-State Challenge took place from April 1, 2007 to April 30, 2008 in the greater New York/Connecticut metropolitan region. Area employers actively supported the challenge by "racing" against each other and promoting the event to their employees. Over ten thousand commuters participated in the event and shared 138,800 rides resulting in 5,040,000 fewer miles driven and the prevention of 2,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. Over 30 local and national sponsors also supported the events and provided $122,000 in rewards and prizes to participating commuters.

 
 

 
 
  The Chevron Challenge took place from March 1, 2006 to February 28, 2007 in the greater Washington D.C. metropolitan region. Chevron and over 20 other organizations sponsored 5,874 commuters who shared 134,793 rides resulting in 5,216,000 fewer miles driven and 2,300 fewer tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
   
 

 
 
  In April 2006 Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell issued the "Connecticut 2,000,000 Mile Rideshare Challenge" and challenged Connecticut drivers to share rides and reduce 2,000,000 miles of driving from Connecticut roadways. The first-ever rideshare challenge was a success and was supported by 21 sponsors and over 4,000 Connecticut residents who achieved the 2,000,000 mile goal in just under nine months.
